Balanced rock at Hook Cave, Phu Wua

Wild elephant crossing road

Comments From Our First Tourists From the Mut Mee Guest House, Nongkhai

We came upon the Openmind Projects brochure by accident and decided on a whim to go there. Though we didn't make any reservation in advance, we could go immediately. Upon arrival in Kham Pia village, Mr. Bunleod welcomed us with a happy smile and told about all the possibilities for activities.

Unfortunately we were short on time and had to choose, and we decided on three nights, one of them spent in the abandoned forest temple cave, an elephant spotting tree, and a trek in the Phu Wua National Park.

In one word, it was awsome.

Mr. Bunleod showed us many things, not just trees flowers and animals, but wild mangoes, which frogs are good to eat (with whisky!), heaps of red ants etc etc.

The food that his sister cooked for us was delicious and we had an excellent (but too short!) view of normal Thai people, way outside the tourist loop. Fully recommended!
